Always looking for ways to improve his circuits, HITS president and CEO Tom Struzzieri has unveiled a major upgrade to his HITS-on-the-Hudson: a charming 30-room luxury hotel and tavern that is sure to be the hot place to call home in the late summer.

The namesake of the HITS Diamond Mills $500,000 Hunter Prix lives up to its title; it’s a gem of a place, less than two miles from the show grounds.

The Diamond Mills Hotel is intimate and elegant, with a European flair. Nestled on the banks of the Hudson River, it is built on the site of an old paper mill, and designed to blend seamlessly with its historic surroundings.

Each room features Egyptian cotton linens and has a balcony overlooking the falls of the Esopus Creek and free wireless Internet connectivity. The hotel also features one luxury suite and one luxury two-bedroom suite.

And the Diamond Mills Tavern is sure to be the watering hole of the summer circuit, with an extensive list of micro-brew beers and specialty spirits. Under the hand of Chef Giuseppe Napoli, the menu of contemporary American cuisine emphasizes the “farm to table” movement.

Napoli draws from locally grown seasonal produce and regionally sourced meats and cheeses to create one-of-a-kind dishes “that would make my family proud!” Guests can dine al fresco on the deck overlooking the falls or cozy up in a booth by the fire of the main dining room. The Tavern also offers private library dining and Sunday brunch.

The Diamond Mills Hotel was built on the site of an old paper mill in historic Saugerties.

Shortly after the hotel’s December opening, rumor circulated that it was sold out for much of the circuit, and particularly the HITS Championship Weekend, Sept. 5-9. Struzzieri says that is not the case. A limited number of rooms and VIP packages are still available for exhibitors showing at the 2012 HITS-on-the-Hudson show series.
