Freestyle win for Seidel and U II in Austria
By Staff Report June 27, 2011SoCal dressage star Guenter Seidel is officially back! The Cardiff, Calif.-based rider won his first European CDI4*since suffering a pelvic fracture in June 2010. Seidel and the 10-year-old KWPN gelding U II triumphed in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Manfred Swarovski Memorial Tournament in Austria on June 26, it was reported by www.Dressage-News.com. The horse is owned by Jane and Richard H. Brown of Carlsbad.
Seidel returned to competition in Southern California in March. In April, he and U II came in second to Steffen Peters and Ravel in both the FEI Grand Prix and the FEI Grand Prix Freestyle at the Del Mar Horse Show’s Dressage Week. At Dressage Affaire in Del Mar in March they won the Freestyle. The tournament in Austria was their first Freestyle victory in Europe.
At the Swarovski memorial, Seidel came in second in the Intermediare I and Prix St. Georges riding the Browns’ 12-year-old Sundayboy, also a KWPN gelding.
