Cast Your Vote: FEI Awards

By June 30, 2011

Now is the chance to help your favorite rider, trainer, horse or other equestrian personality get their moment in the spotlight, by casting a vote in the 2011 FEI Awards competition. Voting is open until July 31, in five categories, and you cast your ballot online.

The FEI Awards recognize the horses, men, women and juniors who have contributed to the progress and excellence of equestrian sport. They even remembered a category for Best Groom ― heralding the folk who are so often the unsung heroes of the sport! The other four areas of competition are: Against All Odds (for a person who has overcome a physical or circumstantial handicap to pursue their equestrian ambitions); the HSBC Rising Star (for a person 14-to-21 who demonstrates outstanding talent and commitment); Development (recognizing a person or organization dedicated to making equestrian sport accessible to a wider public) and Reem Acra Best Athlete (for the athlete – equine, human or combination – that over the past year has demonstrated exceptional skill in the arena, taking the sport to a new level).

Multiple award-winning actor and producer Michael Douglas has lent his support to the FEI Awards, talking up their significance and calling on the worldwide equestrian community to make nominations.

“The FEI Awards provide a platform for the global community to applaud riders and organizations for their outstanding achievements. I am delighted to offer my support and urge you to submit your nominations for the 2011 FEI Awards,” Douglas said in a prepared statement.

The ceremony “will pay tribute to equestrians who have gone above and beyond the call of duty and in doing so, celebrate the very best of equestrian sport,” Douglas said.
