Black Watch Polo to L.A. Oct. 9
By Staff Report September 16, 2011
Nacho Figueras’ Black Watch team will pound the chukkers at Will Rogers Park Oct. 9, when the second annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic touches down in Los Angeles.
Last year marked the first time Veuve hosted its closing season game in Los Angeles, and the company proclaimed the event a huge success, as spectators were treated to a fast-paced and competitive match with gorgeous weather in the beautiful Pacific Palisades setting. A panoply of L.A.’s top-rated food trucks, plus a free-flowing supply of champagne for purchase further enhanced the ambiance. All in all, a great family outing!
General admission tickets are $15 each and can be purchased here. Access to the VIP tent is by invitation-only, and the company is once again encouraging guests to sport Gatsbyesque 1920s and ’30s attire, in a nod to the era in which the Will Rogers polo field was founded (so the cowboy actor could play with friends such as Clark Gable, Walt Disney and Spencer Tracy.
No information yet as to who will constitute the teams, but we will update as details become available. Last year, Figueras also worked in some matches at the Santa Barbara Polo Club during his West Coast sojourn, and we are looking into that as well.
