Oregon’s Carr Miss Rodeo America

Mackenzie Carr hails from Oregon.

LAS VEGAS, NV – The results are in and the 2012 Miss Rodeo America has been crowned: Mackenzie Carr, of Vernonia, Oregon. Carr served as Miss Rodeo Oregon 2011, and during the new year, she will travel more than 100,000 miles representing Miss Rodeo America, Inc. and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

Contestants were judged in the major categories of horsemanship, personality, and appearance, competing in the areas of public speaking, personal interviews, modeling, photogenic and rodeo/equine knowledge. California’s Miss Rodeo 2011, Brittany Slaton of Hollister, was second runner up.

Contestants were eligible for $50,000 in scholarships at the 2012 Miss Rodeo America Pageant.
Carr receives a $20,000 Miss Rodeo America scholarship and  also won in multiple individual categories, incluing Appearance ($1,500 scholarship and a pair of hand crafted spurs); Personality ($1,500 scholarship); Speech ($1,000 scholarship); Horsemanship ($2,500 in scholarships, $500 and a Tex Tan Saddle).

She also won the Raeana Wadhams Spirit Award Scholarship of $500 and first place in the scrapbook award, including $750 in cash.
Carr graduated from Lower Columbia College with an Associate of Arts degree in Speech Communications.  Her further educational goals are to return to Oregon State University to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management Engineering with a minor in Speech Communications.

Miss Rodeo America, Inc. is an organization founded in 1955 to create a competition that would foster western values and enrich the lives of contestants vying to serve as a goodwill ambassador promoting the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Western traditions.
