USEF launches new website to attract investors to eventing

The United States Equestrian Federation has debuted a new website, Experience Eventing, geared toward attracting investors to syndicates that support the discipline at the high-performance level.

“During the first half century of Three-Day-Eventing, all international teams were produced from national armies, and so horses and riders were chosen and paired by command authority,” the site’s splash page explains.

The USEF has debuted a new website geared toward investment in the discipline.

“Until about thirty years ago, our United States Equestrian Team continued that tradition of centralized matching on a voluntary basis. Today, however, riders are responsible for choosing, owning, and supporting their mounts. The costs have risen to the point where single ownership by a rider or sponsor has become largely prohibitive—making it virtually impossible for a top level eventer to compete in international games without unprecedented third-party support.”

While all the disciplines struggle to raise awareness and funding, eventing has been particularly low-profile in this regard, which is somewhat ironic given that among the Olympic disciplines it is the only sport with a regular, high-profile television presence (the Rolex Three Day event is broadcast on NBC each year).

“We have the riders we need to win in the international arena. These riders, however, simply do not have the means to acquire the horses they need to be competitive,” the site goes on to state, explaining that funds are needed to acquire competitive horses.
