Australian rider Edwina Tops-Alexander ― a style icon and superstar on the global show jumping circuit ― has penned a book, Edwina Tops – Alexander, The winner of Oz, available from publisher Editions Lavauzelle for € 19,90 ($32) plus shipping, by clicking here.

Tops-Alexander takes readers along for the ride as she leaves her native Australia and takes the plunge in Europe. Uprooted, alone and missing those banana cakes, as well as family and friends, she made her way, sometimes doubting but always progressing and never giving up.

Meeting Dutch rider Jan Tops, who becomes her mentor and eventually her husband, Edwina’s career takes off.

Sumptuous photos lovingly document each of her horses: Pialotta the beauty, Socrates the brave and the “little soldier” Itôt de Chateau. Ride along as she takes on the World Championships, Olympic Games and hundreds of Grand Prix, climaxing with her 2011 crowning in Abu Dhabi as the winner of the Global Champions Tour.

The book features a preface by her friend and fellow GCT rider Charlotte Casiraghi, and was launched on the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Monaco in June. Edwina is sponsored by Gucci and Gucci Masters Ambassadress Virginie Couperie Eiffel was on hand at the launch, stating,  “We are publishing a series of book of male and female riders. I started with Edwina because she is the most successful female rider.”

Available in French or English editions.
