GBR’s Carlo Sold

Carlo 272, the 11-year-old grey gelding that was British rider Nick Skelton’s reserve horse for the Olympics, has been sold to Spanish show jumper Sergio Alvares Moya.

With Skelton, Carlo (Contender x Cascavelle) has won numerous international grand prix classes, including at Hamburg, Chantilly, La Baule and Wellington. During the European Championships in Madrid the combination won the individual and team bronze medal.

The horse was owned by Beverley Widdowson. Widdowson, who also owns Skelton’s Olympic mount, Big Star,  in July received the FEI/International Jumping Owners Club’s “Owner of the Year” award at 2012 CHIO World Equestrian Festival in Aachen, Germany

Moya belongs to one of Spain’s richest families. He has said he intends compete the horse at the CSIO Barcelona (20-23 September). No purchase price was disclosed.
