With $78,600 in prize money for the circuit, Oregon-based rider Rich Fellers won both the Catena Leading Grand Prix Rider and Platinum Performance Leading World Cup Rider honors on the HITS Desert Circuit, which ran Jan. 25-March 13 in Thermal, Calif.

On Feb. 5 the duo began accelerating its World Cup drive with a blue ribbon finish in the circuit’s first World Cup qualifier, the $50,000 CSI-W presented by Pfizer Animal Health.

They were second in the Feb. 26 CSI-W grand prix, and had two fourth-placings (Feb. 12 and March 5). For his efforts, Fellers received a one-year supply of Platinum Performance. Fellers and Flexible stole the spotlight in 2008 when they won three of the four World Cup Qualifiers at HITS.

On Feb. 24, the duo took blue in the $31,000 Strongid C 2X Welcome Classic, presented by Pfizer Animal Health (an evening class that took place in the indoor arena but was not a World Cup qualifier). “This horse continues to amaze me,” Fellers said of Flexible following the win. “I can’t express how thankful I am to have such a great horse to ride.”

Fellers also won two $25,000 Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, on Feb. 6 and Feb. 13, riding McGuiness. Both horses are owned by Harry and Mollie Chapman.

Standings for the Catena Grand Prix Award are based on points, not money won. Feller received a diamond-faced Catena watch at the Circuit’s Parade of Champions, Sunday, March 13. For the Leading World Cup honors, he received a year’s supply of Platinum Performance product.
