The Grimaldi Forum is the venue for Sportel International 2015, in Monaco.

The new Olympic Channel for the 2016 games will be the focus of a session at Sportel International, Tuesday, Oct. 13,  at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco. The session,  “The Olympic Channel: A Win-Win for Sport and Sports Media,” will examine the strategies the Olympic Channel management and International Federations have to more deeply engage audiences for the the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Key Questions:

  • What was the inspiration for the Olympic Channel?
  • How will it be structured, funded and delivered (Business Model)?
  • Will it pay to acquire rights?
  • How will the offering be tailored to different parts of the world in terms of both language and programming?
  • How do you anticipate the channel assisting the development of sport worldwide?
  • How will it impact on existing Olympic broadcasters?

Ferocious competition for eyeballs, attention and mindshare means it has never been tougher for many sports properties to engage with and retain audiences. This year’s Sportel International Symposium, Oct. 12-15, focuses on the role of broadcast and digital media in growing sports worldwide. It examines and seeks examples of how “fresh thinking”, creativity and the willingness to challenge accepted wisdom is central to winning audiences, attracting commercial partners and adding value for broadcasters and other stakeholders.

Moderator:

Kevin Roberts, Founding Editor, SportBusiness Group
